SVE’s Quadruple Horsepower Yenko Trio

Specialty Vehicle Engineering – known as SVE to most – is the curator of high horsepower modern vehicles. They have a long storied history, like building the GM-approved 4th gen Camaro SS and RS alongside the Firebird Firehawk and WS-6 specialty vehicle programs under the SLP name before they changed it in 2014. Today, they’re still modifying cars, trucks, and SUVs into four digit horsepower street cars under the historic Yenko name.

Supercharged Yenko/SC Silverado

Under the hood of these pickups, you can find three optional packages: a 700 horsepower 5.3, 800 horsepower 6.2L, or a 1,000 horsepower 6.8 stroker based on the 6.2. The 5.3 and 6.3 are stuffed with a forged 1538MV twisted steel crankshaft, forged steel H-beam rods, and forged aluminum pistons. The SVE-sourced supercharger feeds the V8 boost and the injectors and fuel pump for the direct injection system have been upgraded as well to meet the demand.

The 1,000 horsepower 6.8 takes the 6.2 a step further with a 4.000-inch forged 4340 steel crankshaft featuring induction hardened journals. The extra boost, combined with CNC ported cylinder heads and the extra cubes, allows the 6.8 to make four digit horsepower on 93-octane pump gas. The 10-speed auto on the 1,000 horsepower package has upgraded clutches and steels to handle the torque without any slip.

More Than Big Power

To complement the sports car power is stiffer sport suspension. The Yenko Silverados are lowered 2 inches in the front and 5 inches in the rear with thicker sway bars, Fox shocks, and heavy duty traction bars.

The Yenko pickups roll on custom twisted 6-spoke wheels in gunmetal, satin black, or satin black with red line stripe wrapped in Nitto summer rubber. The interior receives custom touches to match the exterior, with seven paint colors and nine stripe finishes to choose from, making the exterior as special as the drivetrain.

Supercharged Yenko/SC Tahoe

If they can do it to a pickup, can they offer those same upgrades to an SUV? You bet! SVE also makes a Yenko Tahoe, and the longer-wheelbase suburban, with the same 700 horsepower, 800 horsepower, and 1,000 horsepower engine packages.

These high-performance grocery getters also come equipped with the same suspension, brakes, wheels and tires, and Yenko graphics to let the guy next to you at the stoplight know that you’re an SUV that demands to be taken seriously.

The Yenko sport trucks and SUVs are for sure the most popular, but SVE also offers GMCs and Cadillacs the same modifications with their GMC Sport Edition and Cadillac SXR Series trucks. And if you’re more into high horsepower on the dirt versus the tarmac, SVE also offers these packages for lifted 4×4 trucks.

Twin Turbo Yenko/SC C8 Corvette

For 2025, SVE will build a limited number of 1,000 horsepower Stage I and 1,250 horsepower Stage II C8 Corvettes. Just like with their other performance offerings, this isn’t just a package with some bolt-ons and graphics, it goes much deeper.

The LT2 engine that comes standard in the C8 Stingray Corvettes is treated to a complete rebuild. The connecting rods and pistons are replaced with more robust forged H-beam connecting rods and 2618 forged pistons to handle the boost. The stock castings are treated to a CNC port job and are held down with ARP studs.

Four-Digit Horsepower

The engine package for the Yenko C8 is rounded out with a custom ground camshaft, a new intake manifold with an integrated air-to-water intercooler, and the key to the new performance; twin Garrett 58mm ceramic ball bearing water cooled turbochargers. These turbos take the stock 495 horsepower to either 1,000 horsepower or 1,250 horsepower. The fuel system is upgraded with auxiliary port injection to help out the direct injection with the fuel demand. 91 and 93 octane tunes for Stage I and flex-fuel E85 capabilities for Stage II; E85 is required for the full 1,250 horsepower with the Stage II package.

The DCT transmission has been upgraded too, with aftermarket clutch packs to hold the extra power and billet aluminum clutch baskets to handle the output with the Stage II package. Both Stage I and Stage II utilize boost-by-gear to keep the power to traction-limited levels in the lower gears to help with acceleration.

The interior gets custom touches to match the exterior and there are nine paint colors and eleven stripe finishes to choose from to make the exterior as special as the drivetrain. The Yenko C8s will not roll on stock wheels, but CNC machined forged lightweight aluminum wheels made specifically for SVE. 19×9.5-inch in the front and 20×12-inch in the rear available in three styles and three finishes wrapped in Nitto summer rubber.

With the recent announcement of the C8 ZR1 becoming one of the quickest cars tested with a 0-60 time of 2.2 seconds, it makes us wonder what 1,250 horsepower would do versus the 1,064 that the ZR1 makes.
