Aston Martin Valhalla Spider: 1,064 HP With No Roof

Caecey Killian October 29, 2026 4 min read 0

Aston Martin just pulled the lid off its hybrid hypercar. The Aston Martin Valhalla Spider takes the 1,064 hp Valhalla coupe, cuts the roof away, and keeps the 217 mph top speed, which makes it the fastest open-top car Aston has ever built. It is also the brand’s first mid-engine, open-cockpit production supercar.

Here’s what it took to get there, from the roof hardware to how the engine still breathes with nothing over your head. Aston and big power are a familiar pairing around here, too. Ringbrothers took a different route when it turned a 1971 DBS into the 805 hp Octavia.

The Twin-Turbo Hybrid V8 Behind The Seats

Behind your head sits a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 with a flat-plane crank. On its own, it makes 828 PS (about 817 hp) on up to 3.0 bar of boost and spins to a 7,000 rpm redline. Aston Martin says that’s 207 hp per liter, the highest specific output it’s ever pulled from a combustion engine.

Three electric motors add another 251 PS. Two drive the front axle with torque vectoring, and the third lives inside the eight-speed dual-clutch. All in, the Spider makes 1,079 PS (1,064 hp) and 811 lb-ft. Aston predicts 0 to 62 mph in 2.5 seconds, and an EV mode lets you leave the neighborhood without waking it up.

How The Aston Martin Valhalla Spider Roof Works

Buyers get two tops. A black fabric roof comes standard and stows in the car, but it caps top speed at 124 mph. The optional carbon fiber hardtop doesn’t stow, but with it bolted on (or with no roof at all), the Spider is good for the full 217 mph, electronically limited.

Losing the roof changes how air reaches the engine. The intake snorkel sits right behind the seats, so Aston made it 35 mm taller than the coupe’s and added a detachable wind deflector to keep air flowing into it. That deflector folds into three pieces and drops into new 15-liter sill compartments. The active aero runs separate calibrations for roof on and roof off, and with the roof fitted the car still makes over 600 kg (about 1,320 lb) of downforce.

Carbon Tub, Pushrod Suspension And Big Brakes

The Spider rides on a version of the coupe’s carbon fiber monocoque, built with F1-derived autoclave tech and resin-transfer molding, with aluminum subframes at each end. Up front, double wishbones work pushrod-actuated inboard springs and dampers. A multi-link setup handles the rear, and Bilstein DTX adaptive dampers manage both ends.

Carbon-ceramic brakes measure 410 mm up front with six-piston calipers and 390 mm out back with four-piston units. They hide behind 20-inch front and 21-inch rear forged wheels on Michelin Pilot Sport S 5 tires, 285/30 front and 335/30 rear. Dry weight is 1,680 kg (about 3,704 lb) with the lightweight options checked.

Valhalla Spider Price And Debut

Aston hasn’t announced Valhalla Spider pricing or a production count. The coupe already sits north of $1 million, so expect the Spider to ask for more. The car debuts at the Concours at Wynn Las Vegas, and early reports point to deliveries starting in the third quarter of 2027.

We’ve always said the best way to hear a flat-plane V8 is with nothing between you and the exhaust. With the roof stowed and the needle swinging toward 7,000 rpm, the Valhalla Spider makes that case at 217 mph.

Frequently Asked Questions

How Much Horsepower Does The Aston Martin Valhalla Spider Make?

The Aston Martin Valhalla Spider makes 1,079 PS, or about 1,064 hp, and 811 lb-ft of torque combined. A twin-turbo 4.0-liter flat-plane V8 supplies 828 PS, and three electric motors add 251 PS. Aston predicts a 0 to 62 mph time of 2.5 seconds and a 217 mph top speed.

How Fast Is The Valhalla Spider With The Roof Off?

It runs the full 217 mph, electronically limited, with the roof off or with the optional carbon fiber hardtop fitted. The standard fabric roof caps top speed at 124 mph, so save that top for bad weather and leave the limiter runs to the hardtop.

What Roof Options Does The Valhalla Spider Have?

A removable black fabric roof is standard and stows inside the car. An optional carbon fiber hardtop is also offered, but it cannot be stored onboard. A detachable wind deflector folds into three sections and fits in new 15-liter sill compartments, and a separate rain cover handles parking.

When Does The Valhalla Spider Go On Sale?

Aston Martin has not announced pricing or how many cars it will build. The Spider debuts publicly at the Concours at Wynn Las Vegas, and early reports point to deliveries starting in the third quarter of 2027. Expect it to cost more than the coupe, which already runs over $1 million.
