Brian Tooley Racing Introduces New 5.3L Power Package Lineup
Brian Tooley Racing has expanded its lineup of naturally aspirated LS combinations with five new BTR 5.3L Power Packages designed to give enthusiasts a proven path to more horsepower without the guesswork. Whether the goal is a better-sounding daily driver, a torque-rich street truck, or a high-RPM street/strip build, each package is engineered around a specific performance target using carefully matched components that have been validated through dyno testing.

Truck Norris 460HP Power Package
The BTR 5.3L Power Packages lineup begins with the Truck Norris 460HP Power Package, built around BTR’s popular Truck Norris camshaft. It’s aimed at enthusiasts who want the aggressive idle the cam is known for while maintaining the drivability expected from a street-driven truck. Equipped with a TBSS intake manifold, the combination produces 458.6 horsepower at 6,450 rpm and 398.5 lb-ft of torque at 4,550 rpm. Adding the optional BTR Trinity intake increases output to 483.8 horsepower at 7,000 rpm and 408.1 lb-ft of torque at 5,650 rpm, extending the powerband and adding more than 25 horsepower for builders looking to maximize their combination.

Truck MAX 470HP Power Package
For truck owners looking for even more performance, the Truck MAX 470HP Power Package emphasizes both horsepower and torque. With a TBSS intake, the combination delivers 471.0 horsepower at 6,650 rpm and 432.3 lb-ft of torque at 5,225 rpm, providing the strong midrange performance that works well in heavier street trucks. Pairing the package with the optional BTR Trinity intake shifts the combination toward higher-RPM performance, producing 499.4 horsepower at 7,000 rpm and 410.6 lb-ft of torque at 5,625 rpm.
Car-Focused BTR 5.3L Power Packages

Beyond the truck-focused combinations, the car-focused BTR 5.3L Power Packages offer three progressively more aggressive builds for enthusiasts chasing naturally aspirated horsepower.
Hot Rod 520HP Power Package
The Hot Rod 520HP Power Package produces 523.9 horsepower at 7,250 rpm and 407.3 lb-ft of torque at 6,075 rpm, making it an excellent choice for muscle cars, hot rods, pro-touring builds, and dedicated street machines that regularly see track time.
Red Hot 530HP Power Package
Stepping up another level, the Red Hot 530HP Power Package raises the bar to 530.9 horsepower at 7,650 rpm and 410.1 lb-ft of torque at 5,950 rpm. Designed for combinations that thrive on RPM, it’s well suited for lightweight street cars and aggressive street/strip builds where top-end power takes priority.
SBE 550HP Power Package
At the top of the lineup is the SBE 550HP Power Package, proving just how much naturally aspirated performance is available from a stock-bottom-end 5.3L. Producing 546.0 horsepower at 7,675 rpm and 409.4 lb-ft of torque at 5,950 rpm, the package is for enthusiasts who want to push the limits of the factory short-block while retaining the stock rotating assembly. It’s the most aggressive naturally aspirated 5.3L combination in the BTR catalog, aimed squarely at lightweight performance cars and serious street/strip applications.
What’s Included In Every Package
All of the BTR 5.3L Power Packages include the major components needed to build a proven combination. Every one of the BTR 5.3L Power Packages ships with either a BTR Trinity or TBSS intake manifold, fuel rails, BTR CV1 cylinder heads, a matched BTR camshaft, BTR pushrods, Delphi lifters, new lifter trays, and BTR LS3 head gaskets. By engineering each package around a tested combination of components, BTR eliminates the guesswork of matching parts and gives enthusiasts a package developed and validated on the dyno before it reaches the customer’s garage.

Torque Converter And Accessory Drive Requirements
The Truck Norris package works with a stock torque converter, although a higher-stall converter is recommended for best performance. Truck MAX, Hot Rod, Red Hot, and SBE packages require an aftermarket torque converter. Packages equipped with the optional BTR Trinity intake manifold, along with the Hot Rod, Red Hot, and SBE combinations, require a GM car-style or aftermarket front accessory drive and are not compatible with the factory GM truck accessory drive.
Final Thoughts
From a rowdy street truck with an unmistakable idle to a stock-bottom-end 5.3L approaching 550 naturally aspirated horsepower, the new BTR 5.3L Power Packages lineup gives enthusiasts a straightforward way to build an engine that matches their performance goals with the confidence of a proven combination.
