Pontiac-Based Lambo Kit Car Offers A Supercar Fantasy

Kit cars seem to get a bad rap in the car world. Just the utterance of the phrase “kit car” makes us picture slapped together cheap parts, ill-fitting fiberglass panels, shoddy DIY paint jobs, and they never seem to ever be truly “finished”; they are always being bought and sold in various states of disrepair. This homemade Lambo kit car is no different.

From Solstice To Supercar

Found on eBay, the seller is selling this Lambo kit car built out of a stretched 2007 Pontiac Solstice to look like a Lamborghini Murcielago. The Lamborghini Murcielago was the company’s replacement for the Diablo and was made from 2002 to 2010. Current values for one of the real V12-powered Murcielagos will set you back a quarter of a million dollars or more, but this kit car is available for the bargain price of $16,500.

Instead of a 600-plus horsepower V12 out back, this Lambo kit car has an LS1 up front. The Pontiac Solstice chassis this kit car is based on is known to be able to handle an LS swap, so this should come as no surprise. The owner claims that the LS1 out of a Camaro is mated to a Pontiac G6 transmission. We’re going to guess that is a typo and they meant G8. Since the G6 was a front wheel drive car with a 4cylor V6, and the G8 was a rear wheel drive car. And the G8 came with LS engines and a six speed6L80e automatic transmission that this appears to have.

So Close, Yet So Far

The LS is controlled by a Holley Terminator X engine management system. A Holley dash screen shows the driver the engine’s vitals. The screen needs to be properly mounted, as you can see in the video below. And that leads us to where this Lambo kit car seems to need the most work: the interior. Loose wiring and missing panels communicate to the future buyer that this project has a long way to go.
