The Dodge SRT revival is officially underway. After years on the sidelines following the FCA and PSA merger, the iconic Street and Racing Technology brand is being brought back to life. Leading the charge is Ram CEO Tim Kuniskis, who aims to unify Stellantis’s top performance engineers under one banner to push the limits of American muscle once again.

Kuniskis, known for his role in launching the Hellcat era and Dodge’s Direct Connection program, will now oversee the newly reformed SRT division. This time, SRT will operate as a centralized performance think tank, pulling top engineering talent from across Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, and Ram. According to Kuniskis, “We’re getting the band back together.”

Bringing the Heat Back to Stellantis

The new SRT team’s responsibilities extend beyond mere nostalgia. They’ll be directly responsible for Stellantis’s North American motorsports strategy and performance vehicle development, including Dodge’s Direct Connection initiative. That means SRT isn’t just a badge anymore; it’s the group’s powertrain and dynamics brain trust. Stellantis says the group’s goal is to create vehicles that push the boundaries of power, aerodynamics, handling, and technology, on both the street and the track.

In a Dodge SRT launch video, Kuniskis emphasizes blending legacy and future: “It is time now for us to harness our past, to accelerate harder and faster toward our future.” That sentiment hints at performance programs that may include both internal combustion platforms and electrified performance cars.

A Potential Hellcat Resurgence?

While Stellantis hasn’t announced specific models tied to the revived Dodge SRT badge, signs point to something big on the horizon. The automaker recently confirmed that production of the Hemi V8 will resume in August, a timing that aligns suspiciously well with Dodge SRT’s comeback. For Dodge fans, that could mean the rebirth of the Hellcat program or something even more extreme.

In addition to heading up SRT, Kuniskis has been appointed as the head of American brands and Stellantis’s North American marketing and retail strategy. He will report directly to Stellantis CEO Antonio Filosa, signaling the company’s intent to keep performance front and center in its U.S. strategy.

SRT’s resurrection comes at a time when many automakers are scaling back their high-horsepower offerings. But Stellantis seems to be leaning in.
