Hennessey Challenger Demon 1700: The Wildest Yet
When Dodge launched the Challenger SRT Demon 170 in 2023, it was hailed as the most extreme muscle car ever built. With 1,025 horsepower, 945 lb-ft of torque, and a blistering 8.91-second quarter-mile on sticky drag radials, it seemed untouchable. But Hennessey Performance, which is never content with “fast enough”, decided to rewrite the history books. Their new creation, the Hennessey Challenger Demon 1700, takes the already outrageous Demon 170 and pushes it to a whole new level of insanity.

440 Cubic Inches And Two Turbos
Unveiled in 2024, the Hennessey Challenger Demon 1700 swaps Dodge’s factory 6.2-liter supercharged Hellcat V8 for a hand-built 7.2-liter (440 cubic inches) twin-turbocharged HEMI. Supporting upgrades include high-flow stainless-steel exhaust, oversized fuel system and fuel injectors, a heavy-duty race-spec SFI driveshaft, and more. The result is a jaw-dropping 1,700 horsepower and 1,400 lb-ft of torque on the same E85 fuel, enough to make the factory Dodge Demon look tame. According to Hennessey, the Demon 1700 can cover the quarter-mile in just 7.9 seconds, making it the quickest street-legal Challenger ever built.

And this isn’t just talk. In a video recently posted to their official YouTube channel, the Hennessey Challenger Demon 1700’s engine can be seen on the dyno, screaming past 1,700 horsepower. As the V8 spins up to full load, the headers glow red-hot, and the data confirms the numbers. It’s a brutal display of mechanical force, and it proves Hennessey isn’t bluffing when they claim record-setting performance.

Going Fast Ain’t Cheap
Despite the monstrous power output, this is still a street-legal vehicle. Their plans to build just 12 examples of the Hennessey Challenger Demon 1700, each tailored for clients looking to dominate both the track and the local cruise-in. The upgrade package starts at $200,000, not including the donor car. And with Dodge Demon 170s selling above MSRP, expect to spend over $300,000 to get behind the wheel of one of these monsters and park it in your garage.

For Mopar muscle car fans who want the baddest Challenger ever built, the Hennessey Challenger Demon 1700 is it. Only a dozen will exist, and with performance this extreme, each one will be a piece of modern American muscle car history.
