The Grand Sport X Is The C8 Generation’s Grand Finale
For the past several weeks, there have been some significant rumors circulating that there will be a new C8 Corvette model and a new V8 for the last of the C8 generation, and it may make its debut at the New York Auto Show in mid-April. This past week, it seems that the rumors gained a little more traction as internal sources leaked that the Grand Sport will be released for the 2027 model year. But bigger news, via trusted sources from GM Authority and Corvette Blogger, is that it will be accompanied by a Grand Sport X model that will replace the E-Ray.

A Hybrid Grand Sport X May Replace the E-Ray
The current C8 generation Corvette has only a few short years left before the C9 comes in to replace it, and there have been countless rumors and discussions on what that generation is going to bring. There have been several artist renderings of the C8 replacement and endless rumors on whether or not it will be gas, hybrid, or fully electric. But in the meantime, we are getting one final model out of the current-gen Corvette.

Widebody Hardware Borrowed From the Z06
Much like the ZR1 and ZR1X, the Grand Sport X will feature a gas-powered V8 in the rear with an electric drive system in the front. These two grand sport models will likely be equipped like the E-Ray and Grand Sport models of the past, with the wide bodywork, brakes, suspension, and fat tires from the Z06 model. But this model is rumored to also debut the 6.7-liter version of the upcoming 6th Gen small block V8.

Debut of the Rumored 6.7-Liter Gen-6 Small-Block
How much power? We aren’t completely sure just yet. They say the Grand Sport X could make around 720-horsepower total, which means the new 6.7 could make somewhere in the neighborhood of 550 horsepower. This would be a healthy output for the mid-engine sports car. But as always, these are only rumors for now, but we can’t wait to see what the Corvette team has cookin’.
