Magma GT: A New Era Of Genesis Performance
Genesis has taken a major step forward in its performance ambitions with the debut of the Magma GT Concept in Le Castellet, France. Serving as the foundation for the next decade of the brand’s high-performance vehicles, the Magma GT showcases the direction of the Genesis Magma division and paves the way for its planned entry into GT-level motorsport. The company has already confirmed participation in the 2026 World Endurance Championship with the GMR-001 hypercar, powered by a twin-turbo V8.
A Mid-Engine Statement for the Future of the Brand
Departing from previous design studies like the Gran Coupe and Convertible, the Magma GT adopts a true mid-engine supercar profile, which is a first for Hyundai Motor Group. The signature split LED daytime running lights remain, but the blacked-out A-pillars give a silhouette reminiscent of high-end Scandinavian performance cars. Finished in a vivid orange, the car features a low hood and boat-tail cabin that taper dramatically at the rear, creating the wide, planted stance essential for high-speed control.

Aerodynamics, Design, and a Focus on Balance
The Magma GT Concept incorporates integrated front canards that merge into the headlamps for improved downforce, while active G-Matrix elements in the front splitter optimize airflow.
“The Magma GT Concept represents the pinnacle of our performance vision and stands as a symbol of our commitment to true motorsport capability. It isn’t defined by raw aggression or uncompromising speed — it is defined by balance. This is a car that feels instinctively connected to its driver, composed under pressure, and meticulously tuned so that every component serves a single purpose: to make performance effortless.”- Luc Donckerwolke, President and Chief Creative Officer, Genesis.
The debut aligns with the strategy outlined at Genesis’ CEO Investor Day in New York and comes shortly after the brand announced a new design center in El Segundo, California. This facility expands the company’s global design reach and supports the development of future performance models with international collaboration.

Building Pedigree With a Rapidly Rising Luxury Portfolio
Genesis’ rise in the luxury segment has been swift, supported by highly acclaimed sedans such as the G80 and G90, along with SUVs like the GV70 and GV80 that are consistently praised for refinement, tech, and craftsmanship. The Magma GT Concept strengthens that trajectory, serving as a halo model that will influence future performance offerings.
Alongside the Magma GT, Genesis also showcased the 640-horsepower GV60 Magma and the G90 Wingback Magma Concept Wagon. But it’s the mid-engine flagship that defines the brand’s intentions. With motorsport commitments, a dedicated performance division, and a bold new design language, Genesis is preparing to challenge established European marques head-on.
