Dodge Charger Super Bee Packs 600 HP String Without A V8

Dodge is making another run at proving that modern muscle car performance doesn’t need a V8 Hemi. The 2027 Charger Super Bee Launch Edition packs 600 horsepower from the Hurricane inline-six, making it a serious track-focused machine even if some enthusiasts aren’t ready to let go of their HEMI-powered Chargers.

The response on social media has been loud, with plenty of users calling for HEMI power. Still, there’s no denying what Dodge has done with the Super Bee. This isn’t simply a Charger with a few appearance upgrades. The Launch Edition gets more power, upgraded cooling, chassis changes, serious brakes, sticky Goodyear rubber, and track-specific drive modes.

The Super Bee Goes Six-Cylinder

At the center of it all is the 3.0-liter Sixpack High Output inline-six. Dodge has fitted the engine with larger 56mm Garrett turbochargers, an uprated cooling system, higher torque reserve, and retuned engine calibration. The result is 600 horsepower, giving the this specail edition 50 more horsepower than the Scat Pack.

Power goes through an eight-speed automatic transmission and a standard all-wheel-drive system. That combination is enough to launch the Super Bee from 0 to 60 mph in just 3.6 seconds before completing the quarter-mile in 11.8 seconds.

Dodge Gives The Super Bee The Hardware To Match

Making 600 horsepower is one thing. Putting it to work on a track is another. Dodge upgraded the chassis with a longer front splitter and larger rear spoiler, along with revised steering geometry, stiffer springs, and a thicker rear stabilizer bar. Adaptive Continuous Damping Control suspension is also part of the package.

The braking system gets serious hardware of its own. The Super Bee uses 16.1-inch rotors with six-piston Brembo calipers up front and four-piston Brembo calipers in the rear. Keeping everything connected to the pavement are 305/35R20 Goodyear Eagle F1 Supercar 3 tires mounted on 20-inch multi-spoke wheels finished in gloss black.

Dodge is also giving us Track and Drag drive modes, along with Race Prep and Torque Reserve functions. Torque Reserve is designed to help build boost for harder launches, which should come in handy when the goal is to make the most of that 600-horsepower inline-six.

The Interior Gets Its Own Super Bee Treatment

The Super Bee Launch Edition gets high-backed performance seats with Citrus Peel inserts and Sour Lemon stitching, along with embroidered headrest logos. A leather-wrapped performance steering wheel features paddle shifters and a dedicated rear-wheel-drive button.

There’s also a 1080p video and data recorder that allows drivers to capture telemetry during track sessions. That gives owners a way to document what the car is doing when they take advantage of the performance hardware.

Two Doors, Four Doors, And Some Classic Super Bee Flavor

The 2027 Charger Super Bee Launch Edition will be available in both two-door and four-door body styles.

Dodge is also bringing some old-school attitude to the modern car with exclusive colors carrying the kind of memorable names that have been part of Chrysler’s muscle car tradition for decades. The available colors include Sucker Punch, Shady, and Diamond Black.

Updated hockey stick-style striping and a Super Bee logo complete the exterior treatment.

The name itself has plenty of history. Dodge first introduced the Super Bee in 1968 on the Coronet before bringing the badge to the Charger in 1971. For 2027, the Super Bee gets another first. This is the first time the name has been used on a six-cylinder-powered model.

Can A Hurricane Six Fill The HEMI-Sized Void?

There’s no question that the 2027 Charger Super Bee is packing serious performance. A 600-horsepower twin-turbo inline-six, all-wheel drive, an 11.8-second quarter-mile, Brembo brakes, adaptive suspension, and 305-section Goodyear tires make for a pretty serious combination.

Of course, none of that changes the fact that the Super Bee doesn’t have a 6.4 Hemi or supercharged Hellcat under the hood. For some Dodge fans, that’s going to be the first thing they notice.

Dodge hasn’t announced pricing or availability for the Super Bee Launch Edition yet. Every Launch Edition purchase will, however, include a one-day performance driving course at Radford Racing School, giving owners the opportunity to learn how to properly harness all 600 horsepower.

Whether the new Super Bee can fill the void left behind by Dodge’s legendary Charger Hellcat models remains to be seen. For now, Dodge is betting that 600 horsepower from a twin-turbo Hurricane six is enough to keep the Super Bee name relevant in the modern muscle car era.
