ProCharged Dark Horse: Stock Coyote Makes 1,000+ Horsepower
Last year, ProCharger launched its latest supercharger solution for the newly released 2024 Mustang S650 platform, featuring Stage 2 kits designed for unmatched power delivery with street-ready drivability. Now that HPTuners has cracked into the Mustang’s ECU, they have been testing how far the Gen 4 Coyote platform in the Dark Horse can be pushed, and this ProCharged Dark Horse is pushing impressive horsepower figures!

ProCharger has completed extensive validation on their S650 kits, including dyno, road, and track testing, to ensure reliability and performance at or above customer expectations. Their kits boost the output of the 5.0-liter Mustang to over 800 horsepower via 12psi of boost from a P1-X head unit. But recent testing posted on social media showed some impressive results on this ProCharged Dark Horse.

The Test Mule
This ProCharged Dark Horse S650 is equipped with ProCharger’s Stage 2 system. Key upgrades include a relocated inlet near the wheel well to tap cooler air naturally, minimizing inlet air temperatures, billet aluminum brackets, gearboxes, and high-efficiency impellers in the P1-X. Paired with an industry-leading intercooling system using the same core as the GT350, it maintains near-ambient charge temperatures at peak output.

The only mods to this test mule is the Stage 2 supercharger kit and the fuel system upgrades that come with it, which include 55lb/hr injectors and a boost-a-pump for the port side of the fuel system. Otherwise, this ProCharged Dark Horse is completely stock. Including the engine, intake manifold and throttle bodies, transmission, rear diff, axles, the direct injection fuel system, and the exhaust from the exhaust manifolds all the way to the mufflers.

Dyno Tuned And Tested
ProCharger’s final testing showed 1,014.8 horsepower and 739.5 pound-feet of torque at the rear tires. Impressive results from nothing more than an off-the-shelf supercharger kit and a bone-stock Mustang. These results were achieved with an E30 ethanol/gasoline mixture and the tuner says there is more left on the table, but bigger injectors and pump will be needed for the port fuel injection to go any further.
Will ProCharger offer this tuning for ProCharged Dark Horse customers? Not likely. This is simply an exercise in how tough the Gen 4 Coyote in the Dark Horse is and how capable ProCharger’s supercharger systems are. But, that doesn’t mean customers can’t do it themselves, now that it’s been dyno proven.
