The Sneaky Ram 600-horsepower Direct Connection Supercharger
While the spotlight at Roadkill Nights in Pontiac, Michigan, was firmly on the Dodge Durango SRT HELLCAT Jailbreak and the all-new Charger SIXPACK, Ram quietly revealed something that could prove just as exciting for truck and performance fans. Mopar Insider found on display a 2026 Ram 1500 Express prototype powered by the 5.7-liter HEMI® V8 with eTorque mild-hybrid technology, enhanced with a Direct Connection supercharger and performance upgrades.
The understated presentation didn’t stop this truck from standing out. Instead of being a mere showpiece, it offered a clear signal: Ram is preparing to extend Stellantis’ Direct Connection program beyond Dodge’s muscle cars and into the high-performance pickup market.

The Direct Connection Supercharger By Whipple
At the heart of the concept is a Whipple Gen 6 3.0-liter Stage Supercharger Kit, now developed under the Direct Connection banner. Engineered to integrate with the HEMI and eTorque system, the package produces more than 600 horsepower—about a 50 percent jump over the naturally aspirated version.
Running just 5 psi of boost on 93-octane fuel, the kit delivers gains of up to 180 horsepower at the rear wheels. Even more significant, Ram intends for this upgrade to be 50-state CARB legal, ensuring compliance with emissions rules while remaining fully streetable.
The system includes:
Direct Connection Whipple Gen 6 3.0L Stage Supercharger
Adjustable 8-rib belt system
HELLCAT high-flow fuel injectors
3-bar MAP sensor
Full eTorque integration
This careful integration keeps the eTorque mild-hybrid system functional, retaining efficiency and drivability even as performance levels climb.

Designed for Reliability and OEM Support
Whipple has offered similar superchargers for Ram trucks in the past, but the Direct Connection branding takes things to a new level. With Ram’s engineering and OEM support, the kit is designed for long-term reliability, seamless operation, and warranty coverage.
Additional upgrades include a Direct Connection cold-air intake, exhaust system, and custom graphics. These features are expected to find their way into the official Direct Connection catalog, giving Ram owners factory-backed choices to enhance performance.
What It Means for Ram Enthusiasts
Although no official release date has been confirmed, Ram has stated that the Direct Connection supercharger kit will soon be available through participating dealerships. Customers could then order a 2026 Ram 1500 with a 5.7-liter HEMI and later add a fully warrantied, emissions-compliant supercharger package just like the Ford boys have been able to do with F-150s for a while now (are you listening, Chevrolet?).

By offering an OEM-backed path to serious power, Ram positions itself uniquely in the truck performance market. Rather than leaving enthusiasts to gamble on aftermarket parts that may sacrifice drivability or legality, Ram is creating a solution that delivers muscle, compliance, and peace of mind in one package.
For those waiting on Ram to step up its performance game, this 1500 Express concept suggests the future is going to be both powerful and factory-approved.
