C8 Grand Sport Details Leak: LS6 Horsepower Figures And Pricing
It looks like this week may very well go down in automotive performance history as the “C8 Grand Sport Leak Week” as more details emerge about the upcoming C8 Grand Sport and Grand Sport X models. General Motors dealers have been in Las Vegas this week for their annual dealer conference, and as expected, some interesting details slipped out regarding the future of the Chevrolet Corvette lineup. The biggest takeaway? New information surrounding the upcoming Grand Sport models and the long-rumored LS6 V8 that is expected to debut for 2027.

Dealer Meeting Leak Reveals LS6 Power Figures
As we reported earlier this week, reliable internal sources close to Corvette Blogger have given us top-secret intel on the upcoming model year for the Corvette, including a 2027 C8 Grand Sport and a Grand Sport X that will replace the E-Ray. Both of these models will have the new 6.7-liter LS6 V8, and now we know the power figures: 535-horsepower.
Front Electric Motor Standardized Across Lineup
Another key detail is the front electric motor setup. Chevrolet is reportedly standardizing the upgraded 186-horsepower front motor currently used in the Chevrolet Corvette ZR1X. That unit was strengthened internally to handle the added demands of the ZR1X, and now it looks like that improved hardware will carry over to the C8 Grand Sport X. This means the “GSX” won’t just be a mild hybrid; it’s shaping up to be a 721-horsepower all-wheel-drive performance package with serious traction and acceleration potential.

C8 Grand Sport X Pricing
Another potential leak is the pricing. While pricing hasn’t been discussed in exact numbers at the GM dealer meetings, many sources are reporting that the Grand Sport X will be priced to start around $110,000. This is very similar to the starting MSRP for the outgoing E-Ray.
Will the C8 Grand Sport X be an upset for the less powerful C8 Z06? We don’t think so. The C8 Grand Sport may be more powerful, and the AWD hybrid combo will most certainly offer superior acceleration figures, but the two offer two completely different experiences. The Z06 is a road-going track weapon offering a peak visceral experience. The GSX, on the other hand, offers a majority of the ZR1X experience for an achievable sale price. Regardless, this looks like big news for potential Corvette buyers in the coming years.
