Gen VI LS6 Dyno Breakdown Shows Real Performance Evolution

Car Junkie April 1, 2026 15 min read 0

The next-gen small-block Chevy V8 is upon us, and it’s caused quite a stir on social media. Some are saying this is the best thing this side of Kate Upton’s debut (remember her?), while others can’t seem to see what the fuss is about. One criticism that caught our eye was that the new LS6’s horsepower-per-liter figure is barely better than the outgoing LT2 it’s replacing, which is true. But recent pics of the Gen VI LS6 Dyno graph from GM show that there is more to the story about the new powerplant’s performance potential.

Gen VI LS6 Dyno Sparks Debate Online

The outgoing Gen V LT2 makes 495 horsepower at 6,450 rpm and 470 pound-feet of torque at 5,150 rpm in the Z51-equipped Stingray, which is 79.84 horsepower per liter. The Gen VI LS6 makes 535 horsepower at 6,100 rpm and 520 pound-feet of torque at 4,600 rpm, which squeaks out a smidge better 79.85 horsepower per liter. But the name of the game here isn’t specific power output, it’s power that’s made in the rest of the rev range, not just the peak, and torque. Lots of torque. To help this make sense, we’ve decided not to compare it to the base Stingray LT2 but something with more displacement and pedigree: The C6 Z06’s 7.0-liter LS7.

427 Will Always Be Legendary

When the 7.0-liter LS7 was released for the 2006 model year, it was the highest horsepower naturally aspirated production V8 GM had ever produced. Only bested by the C8 Z06 that was released just a few years ago. The LS7 used titanium connecting rods, titanium valves, and had its own bespoke head compared to other production LS heads. It, combined with the C6 Z06’s featherweight construction, turned it into a performance powerhouse and an instant legend.

Horsepower Per Liter Isn’t The Full Story

At the big press release last week for the new C8 Grand Sport, Grand Sport X, and the new LS6 being built on the next-gen small-block platform, Corvette Blogger snagged a shot of GM’s official Gen VI LS6 dyno graph they had on display. To see that shot for yourself, you can scroll to the bottom of the page, but we decided to take the data they had on display in that graph and overlay it with the data from GM’s official dyno graph from the LS7 when it debuted twenty years ago.

Gen IV LS7 vs Gen VI LS6 Dyno Comparison

The 7.0-liter Gen IV LS is 18.89 cubic inches larger than the new Gen VI LS6, at 427.65ci versus 408.76ci, and was built to be the end-all naturally-aspirated V8 for the Corvette with titanium components in its valvetrain, a dry-sump oil system, and a 7,000rpm redline. But overlaying data from the Gen VI LS6 dyno onto the LS7’s shows just how far technology and engineering have come for the pushrod V8s.

Torque Curve Like A Big Block

The Gen VI LS6 dyno shows that not only does it best the 427 LS in both horsepower and torque, but it does so across the entire rev range. The LS6 makes more torque, from 1,000rpm to redline, than the 0.3-liter-larger LS7. Taking a smaller engine and engineering it to outperform its larger grandfather, from idle to redline, is no easy feat. This can be attributed to the LS6’s 13:1 compression ratio, redesigned cooling system to handle the higher combustion temps, dual EFI fuel system, and improved airflow.

What This Means for Future Performance

The Gen VI LS6 dyno graph from GM really shines a light on the new Gen VI small-block platforms’ improvements over the LS and LT, but also the performance potential. With the new intake, cylinder heads, port and DI fuel systems, and new cooling system, can you imagine how much power the new 6.7 will pick up when BTR and others come out with bigger cams and E85 tuning? We can’t wait!

If you have followed the drag and drive scene for any length of time, you already know the name, Colt Beck. He is the man behind Send It Race Media and Send It Race Shop, and his fuel pump hanger giveaway for 2026 is exactly the kind of thing the community needs right now.

Sick The Magazine covered his build story, and the details give the giveaway real weight. Colt spent the last few years putting together a 2008 Pontiac G8 for drag and drive events. The car runs a supercharged 5.3 LS backed by Brian Tooley Racing parts and an Eaton M122 blower sourced from a Mustang GT500. It has logged over 30,000 street miles and competed in events like The Circuit.

The car did not come together easily. It started with a theft, a wrecked shell, a title lost inside the stolen car, and six months of the project sitting behind the shop, going nowhere. What turned it around was the community. Sponsors stepped up. Racers and fans believed in the build when Colt was not sure he did anymore. That backstory is the whole reason this fuel pump hanger giveaway exists.

What Is The Fuel Pump Hanger Giveaway?

Send It Race Shop is sponsoring five race teams for 2026. Each selected team receives one of their Universal Fuel Pump Hangers, designed to work with virtually any fuel pump setup in a 12-bolt fuel cell. The hangers support combinations from 300 horsepower all the way to 3,000. That range covers a door-slammer bracket car and an outlaw boosted street beast with equal footing.

This is not a drawing for random people to enter. Colt is looking for racers who are out there earning it. To apply, send a paragraph about yourself and why you are a fit, your 2026 race schedule, and your social media links to senditinfodesk@gmail.com. You have to be active on social media and actually racing. Teams who tell their story from the pits and the lanes are who this is for, not someone running twice a year and calling it a season.

Why Is Colt Beck Giving Away Free Fuel Pump Hangers?

We asked him. His answer cuts straight to it.

“The racing community has done a lot for me, whether they realize it or not,” Colt said. “When my car got stolen, and everything went sideways, people I had never met stepped in to help. Companies, racers, fans. They helped me rebuild not just the car, but the momentum and the dream behind it. That stuck with me.”

As Sick The Magazine reported, when the G8 build stalled after the theft and title nightmare, a fan comment on one of Colt’s videos got it moving again. Someone wrote: this is your dream, don’t let anyone take it away from you. That was enough. Colt tracked down a clean-title matching shell in Iowa, transferred every part from the wrecked car, and had the build finished by December 2024. Since then, the G8 has stacked street miles and race weekends without skipping a beat.

BerryPerformance (728x90) - - Car Junkie Mag

“A lot of really talented people never get to the track because of budget, not passion,” he said. “If we can remove one small barrier for a few racers and help them stay in the sport, then we are doing more than selling parts. We are growing the community.”

That is not a press release. That is someone who got a second shot and is putting the same energy back into the people around him.

It Could Be 10 Cars

Here is the part that should make you move on this. Colt told us directly: “If you’re serious and the article does well, I’d be willing to double the car count to 10 to get more people involved.”

Ten cars in this fuel pump hanger giveaway instead of five. Ten builds that otherwise might have run a compromised setup or skipped a race weekend because the money was not there. The Send It Race Shop Universal Fuel Pump Hanger covers setups from street power levels up to full outlaw race builds, so whatever your combination looks like, the part fits.

The racing community rebuilt Colt Beck’s dream from scratch, and Sick The Magazine told that story well. Now he is using the business he built to return the favor, one hanger at a time.

If that sounds like you, send the email. The 2026 season is not far off, and spots in this giveaway do not stay open long.

Apply at: senditinfodesk@gmail.com

People who chase projects like this tend to go all in. If that sounds familiar, check out our feature on the Brunton Stalker XL, a street-legal LS-powered machine built by someone who refused to build anything ordinary.
